During the decade long span of time I lived in Florida, I often over heard my friends and colleagues, and inevitably caught myself answering this question from an out-of-stater with the same response, "living the dream"! Technically, Florida is located in a subtropical region, located just above the Tropic of Cancer - the circle around the earth marking the latitude 23.5 degrees north. This is why Florida winters are so temperate. Just a few degrees further south and the winters would feel more like summer in Manhattan. And, of course, this is why so many people love the idea of living in Florida.
